Seal Hunt Controversy

Sealers during seal huntWith the annual seal hunt nearly upon us and the proposed European Union ban on seal products gaining more steam, the controversy surrounding the hunt is heating up. Forgetting literary prose, here is my take:

I listen to a million arguments from savage fools every year as to why it is okay to kill hundreds of thousands of seals everyday, ranging from the financial to the “they’re worse than us” (the ‘roo culls in Australia for example). Luckily for me, this remains an easy topic to see the bottom of through the mess of opinion.

Destroying other species en mass for our own benefit is relatively immoral to many people, whether it be cow, kangaroo, seal, whatever, and it needs to end. The worst thing about our ugly, outdated practices is that we cling to them for their very age instead of using our faculties and modern amenities to come up with a new solution. Seal killers = ghouls, no matter the income. I would personally find a different way to support my family because I am not a lazy, selfish ass who looks for a quick buck first with moral responsibility second. It’s this “me first” attitude that gets us into these messes when they could simply be avoided in the first place.

Now, onto the many uninformed hypocrites who happily devour the dead flesh of cows and chickens all the while plotting their next anti-seal hunt rant for CBC.ca: put the rotting flesh down, pick an apple up and get your head straight. Then prepare your rant.
